Make. Connect. Belong.
“10 Years of Friendship, Skills and Shared Stories”
Who We Are
Rostrevor Men’s Shed is a place where men come together to make things, learn new skills, share a bit of craic, and look out for one another.
What began as a simple idea 10 years ago — a few men meeting up to work with their hands — has grown into a thriving community of makers, storytellers, gardeners, volunteers, friends, and neighbours from all backgrounds.
We’re more than a workshop.
We’re a shared space where everyone is welcomed the moment they walk through the door. The kettle goes on, the tools come out, and the conversations begin. Over the years, we’ve become a cornerstone of village life — a place that tackles isolation, builds friendships, and gives people a sense of purpose and belonging.
Today, we manage a fully refurbished community centre at 16 The Square, hosting classes, clubs, events, and groups from across the village. It’s a warm, inclusive space shaped by the community and for the community.
And it all started with a handful of men, a few tonne bags, and a big idea.
What we do
16 The Square
16 The Square is more than a building — it’s the heart of our village, and the place we’re proud to call home.
When Rostrevor Men’s Shed first began, we could never have imagined that one day we’d be managing a fully refurbished community centre right in the middle of the Square. But here we are — running a space that brings people together, supports local groups, and strengthens the fabric of village life.
Inside these walls, you’ll find a warm, welcoming environment used by a wide mix of community groups: mother-and-baby sessions, DIY and craft classes, art circles, drama groups, yoga, mindfulness, and more. It’s a place where conversations flow, friendships spark, and people of all ages and backgrounds feel at home.
It’s also the permanent base for Life and Time, the end-of-life care team that provides dignity, compassion, and comfort for families across the area — a service we’re honoured to support.
By managing 16 The Square, we’ve taken our ethos beyond the workshop. We’ve helped create a shared, neutral space where the whole community can meet, learn, talk, laugh, reflect, and grow together.
And just like the Shed itself, the Centre is shaped by the people who step through its doors.
This is what community looks like.
